The Aurora Shooter's Guns, Do we need more restrictions or less?

The weapons: AR-15, 870 Remington 12-gauge shotgun plus 300 rounds of ammunitions, two .40-caliber Glock handguns
Should individuals have the right to own weapons that are designed specifically for military and law enforcement? Are those types of weapons designed primarily to kill or wound human beings?
Are the current restrictions enough? Should the current restrictions be removed?
Should the federal government regulate the sale of guns and ammunition or should each state decide how/if they want to regulate.

They regulate over the counter sinus medications - you have to show ID and you are limited to how much you can buy. The Justices have already said the 2nd amendment can have reasonable restrictions. It's time to implement them.

ReplyDeleteI don"t know about banning guns or for sure how many people are killed by them each year, but I know the Gov. hase an average speed limit on our highways of 70mph but they let car manufacturers build cars that will run up to 200mph that kills many more people than guns so whats up?Your right guns are protection frum all enemies far and close. DeleteLiving in alaska i gun is used for this...providing food and protection 1st and foremost.Alaska allows concealed carry with out permit and cash and carry out the door purchase of guns after a phone call background check and guess what.There is by capita less gun related crime in the state as opposed to other states.So what is your answer to that?.It was also proven that the individual in colorado is mentally disturbed...a Dr,s report to authoritys was ignored and not followed up on.If it had been they would have seen the stockpiling of ammunition and the gun purchases and would have initiated a response stopping his actions long before they happened.So it is not the lack of gun laws here that caused this it is a break down in the communication between authoritys failure to monitor and acting upon a Dr,s recommendation....not a failure of gun laws.

DeletePeople be aware this post originated in orange county california and is most likely a attempt by a anti-gun group who will use the comments posted here in thier favor negating the ones that are not in thier favor to bolster Rep. Nancy Skinners proposed bill.Other groups have done the same to prevent mining and dredging within the state and post only the positive replys that further thier views while deleting any comments that are negative to thier views.

ReplyDeleteall guns are designed to kill people and so are bows and arrows and swords and knives and clubs and jet airplanes and tanks. If you take guns away from the citizens then only the government and criminals have them and history has shown that does not protect the average citizen. So why are we talking about making the guns unavailable to those who need them the most, the average citizen. There is no good reason to outlaw them or heavily restrict them from free people unless we all decide to give up war, crime and ruling one another.

ReplyDeleteIf you need a gun with that much power it is only because the gun between your legs is too damned tiny and you feel less like a man. My self I do not need a gun with that much power I can stand my own without it. And yes they need to regulate military type weapons to keep them out of the hands of redical idiots no matter what your beleifs may be. As far as the nut speaking of competition you can still compete in shooting competition without those type of weapons and don't tell me you can't only an idiot would disagree. It just tells me you do not know how to use a good bolt action 8 mm or 223 or 6.5 round to hit a target, which by the way are older military and legal to own.
ReplyDeleteI can see your point... however, I have no doubt that when there is a intruder/criminal that enters your home that if the best you can do is discharge one round against his semi or automatic weapon the amount of fire power the criminal has may be the determining factor that may prevent you getting off another round or you become another statistic...
DeleteThat must be quite a weener you've got there, although I really doubt that you'll intimidate an attacker or intruder by pulling your dick out. On the other hand, I have a 10 gauge shotgun that is very intimidating. It was not designed for killing people but I'll bet it'll open somebody up like a can of tomatoe soup.

Gun laws vary city to city because of different concentrations of people in each. I feel that more gun restrictions will hinder law abiding gun owners while psychos like Holmes will continue to do insane acts like the one in CO. ReplyDeleteIt is the right of each citizen who has been declared legal to purchase and own a gun. It is the responsibility of that individual to act responsibly (same as anyone with a car and drivers license) and receive training and supervision while learning to handle the weapon appropriately... upon completion of the program and receiving a certificate for gun safety and training a citizen becomes a responsible person... training also can reveal remote or complicated behavior that could become a red flag that could require the person to be evaluated by a mental health professional. After 25 years in the Marine Corps I have handled weapons at times on a daily basis... errors in judgment can be made regardless of how much training or experience one has. I agree with several commenters concerning the removal of personal defense guns or stricter regulations as the criminal will never follow the law of the land... that is why they are called criminals, preditors, and things that go bang in the night.... thank you.

why limit access to those weapons to law abiding citizens when criminals can get one for 50 bucks out of the back of some truck in an alley, and notice that all of these shootings are happening in so called "gun free zones", they're "gun free" to all those who follow the law, if one person with any kind of training had been allowed to conceal carry inside the theater things would be much different.

DeleteWe don't need more gun laws or restrictions. There are already more then enough on the books. Both these recent incidents were the result of deranged minds and both could have been prevented by authorities. The Colorado shooter could have been stopped if the campus police had done their jobs and acted on the advice of the shooter's psychiatrist. The temple shooter was not followed up on by police/FBI authorities, even though they knew he was a threat. We need the police to follow up on threats in a timely and thorough manner. Gun owners are our least problem.

I'm more of a believer in how Switzerland handles it. The have no crime and no mass shooting and no standing army. And that's because EVERY SWISS CITIZEN IS ISSUED A WEAPON AND IS TRAINED FROM CHILDHOOD ON SAFETY AND HOW TO USE IT. One of the reason that the forefathers wanted this right, so we could have protection from a complete take over by Government! For those of you who think we should get rid of the 2nd amendment, how would you feel if we got rid of the 1st amendment as well. People of all beliefs have no idea how valuble this one is and take it for granted. But it isnt for bitch'n for more rights! We all have the same rights. Obama wants to dissolve them both.

Have you ever seen a terrible car crash. Still happens everyday. Should we outlaw automobiles, or fires, or surgeries, how about tornadoes and hurricanes, floods, thunderstorms? This is society, we still have the best one and it works fine as long as the Federal Government keeps their nose out of our rights. The reason we were given the right by our founding fathers to bear arms was to prevent the government from taking full control over the citizens' lives..... blah blah who is even listening??
